Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions that actually get asked. Where the answer is "no" or "not yet", it says so.

About the product

The questions below cover what it does, what it does not, how plans work, and where it is not the right choice yet. If something is missing, ask.

Where this is not the right tool

Worth saying plainly, because a product page that claims to fit everything fits nothing:

If you need patient appointment scheduling, this is not that. It schedules staff. The two are often confused and are different products.

If you need a time clock, this is not that either. It produces the schedule and exports hours for payroll; it does not record attendance.

If your schedule has no rules and no fairness question — a small team where everyone works the same days — a spreadsheet is genuinely fine and this would be overhead. That guide is honest about what a spreadsheet is good at.

If you need a certification we do not hold, we will tell you rather than work around it. See security.

Common questions

Does it build the schedule, or just publish one I built?

It builds it. You configure the rules your department works by and it generates a complete schedule satisfying them, distributing call and weekends evenly across the people who share them. Publishing is a step at the end rather than the product.

What happens to a rule it cannot satisfy?

Hard rules are never broken — if no schedule satisfies them, it reports which constraint is impossible rather than producing one that violates it. Soft preferences are satisfied where possible and reported where not, so you see the trade-off.

Can I enter rules in plain English?

Yes. A rule typed as a sentence is parsed into structured form, and you read back what it understood before it takes effect. That read-back step is the part that makes it safe rather than merely impressive.

Does it support shifts longer than a day?

A multi-day shift is one shift with one start and one end. A Friday-to-Monday call block is a single 72-hour assignment, and rest calculations, duty-hour counts and tallies all see it as that single span.

Can staff swap shifts themselves?

Yes, and every proposed swap is checked against the same rules that built the schedule before it is offered for acceptance. A swap that would break minimum rest or a consecutive-day limit is refused with the specific rule named. Whether swaps additionally need admin approval is configurable per site.

What job titles does it support?

Whichever ones you define. The product ships with no fixed list of roles — a site administrator creates the categories their department uses, and shift eligibility is set against those.

Do shifts appear in my phone's calendar?

Yes, over a standard calendar subscription, so Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook all work. Each shift keeps a stable identity across changes, so a swap updates the existing entry rather than deleting and recreating it.

Is there a mobile app to install?

There is no app store download. The staff interface is a progressive web app: it runs in a browser and can be installed to a home screen, so checking shifts or claiming an open one works on any phone.

Is it HIPAA compliant?

We do not claim HIPAA compliance. The product is designed to hold no patient data at all, which is a stronger position than compliance controls over data that should not be there. If your use requires a business associate agreement, ask us rather than assuming.

Do you hold SOC 2 or ISO 27001?

No. We hold no third-party security certification today, and the security page says so by name. An unaudited claim would be worse than an absent one.

Is card data stored?

No. No card number, last four digits, brand, expiry date, security code or bank detail is in our database in any table — it lives with the payment processor and is read from them at the moment of use. A test fails the build if a card-shaped column appears.

How is a seat counted?

A seat is a person who can sign in and be scheduled. Someone working at two sites in the same group is one seat, because billing is pooled at the group rather than charged per site.

Why are there no prices on the site?

Because plans and prices are configuration rather than code, so a figure published here could differ from what you are quoted. Ask and you get the current number.

Can a site administrator see other sites' data?

No. Their access is scoped to the sites they administer, and every list, report and change is filtered to those. Platform-wide access is a separate role belonging to the operator of the service rather than to any customer.

Is it available now?

The software is built and running but not yet generally available. Get in touch and we will tell you honestly where we are.
